Labor Day weekend marks our 10 yr anniversary of living in Alameda, and coincidentally, it’s the same milestone for me as a family photographer. We moved here with a preschooler in tow, not knowing a single soul. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would grow alongside some of the kindest humans whose journey would inevitably take our kids to the same high school.
This is a personal photo project that documents their first and last day of high school. We will recreate these again upon graduation—same kids, same location.
I’ve watched these kids stretch and grow from pipsqueaks to beautiful humans, each uniquely their own. It was fun creating with them and seeing how different they are from each other. It will be fascinating to see where these big dreamers will be 4.5 yrs from now.
To say that photography has exposed me to a community is putting it mildly. It has shaped me and gifted my heart with humility and profound gratitude.
If you have a high school senior, let’s document this pivotal time together. I’ll be treasuring every moment with care, as if they were my own.
