I’ll be honest, as a family photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area, I prefer hiding behind the lens. And talking about myself on camera is about as fun as getting my first AARP invite in the mail.
But here we are with two double whammy milestones this year: approaching the big 5-0 (!!!) and my biz turning 10.
And as one does when facing a midlife existential crisis, I handled it with the same reverence and fervor as an emo teenager and made a video.
After all, it’s about time I stepped out from behind the lens and got real…in video. But what began as sharing my heart evolved into appreciating how I’ve grown and stayed true to my promise to find beauty in the mess of every day. And although it was scary to get in the frame on video (with my Midwestern accent and all), it was also equal parts therapeutic and felt like I was giving the younger version of myself a big hug.
Thank you for being a part of this journey and for trusting me to capture your beautiful everyday moments.
If you’re curious about capturing your family’s story in San Francisco, the East Bay, or anywhere throughout the Bay Area, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. It’s a joy to be part of a family’s journey and to help preserve those moments that matter most.
Wheter it be with family video or family photos, let’s continue to be brave and show up for ourselves and each other.
